Starting Your Health Journey? 3 Simple Ideas With Big Impacts
Here’s the bare truth about working out- instead of getting fit, we are getting fancy about getting fit. Should you do yoga or weightlifting or is running the best option for you? Well, what matters is that you start doing something to move your body. In these modern times, we have to go out of our way to include some sort of physical activity in our daily routine. We’re often stuck thinking that a workout takes up a lot of time, that we have the most important meeting of our lives during that one hour of gym, or many such lame excuses that we keep coming up with. But if you notice carefully, you’ll see that the most successful people on the planet are the ones who take care of our health regularly. So here’s Mukesh Bansal of Myntra and cult.fit fame, dishing out the real reason why successful people are such workout fanatics-
1. Use it or lose it
Our body is an energy-efficient machine. Our mind and body are always focused on saving our energy as a survival instinct. If you have ever seen a broken arm or leg, you’ll notice how after the cast is taken off, the limb looks much leaner, and there’s lesser muscle. That’s because once your body realizes that you are not using that part of your body, lesser energy is dispersed into those muscles. Similarly, imagine what’s happening to your whole body if you are not just sitting in that one chair all day long. Do little things throughout the day, and make sure you get some movement in all your joints.
2. Bother your body
Leading a healthy lifestyle doesn’t have to be fancy. Many people have the notion that to be fit, they have to have proper activewear, the right shoes, and a personal trainer. But all you need to do is move your body throughout the day. Have a day filled with calls? Do a one-minute plank when one call ends and before the next one begins. Sitting in one place for a really long time? Instead of ordering in your coffee, go to the shop right outside your place and grab that cup yourself. By slowly incorporating these little things throughout the day, you’ll build small habits that are not too difficult to maintain but highly impactful in leading a healthier life.
3. Do nothing space
You might be thinking, how can doing nothing help us in our health journey? And the simple answer is- our mind and body are connected. With so much information going into our brains every day, it’s only necessary that we learn how to catch a break. By giving yourself that “do nothing space” or vacant time for you just to be and letting your mind wander, you are allowing your charged-up mind to decompress. The only way to do that is by staying away from your phone for one hour. 30 minutes if an hour is too long for you. Gradually, as you get more comfortable being away from your phone, you will have built strong discipline sets. Eventually, once you know how to break that cycle and stay away from your phone, you’ll also be disciplined enough to put down the very unhealthy burger.
With our lives getting busier every day, it’s high time we start following a healthier lifestyle. Start your health journey today and take all your friends and family along with you. Get better together.
