You will find two kinds of people in your life and the world: one who sees the glass half full and the other who does not. You have to deal with both kinds. If you want to set up a business, you are more likely to see the second kind increasing by leaps and bounds around you. You will have to learn how to deal with that negativity.

In this world, where we are all connected to one through one another, negativity can come from anyone — internet trolls, your so-called friends, or your relatives. You have to sail through by dealing with negative emotions.

Here are a few ways I cope with negativity. Hope it helps you with the bad feelings as well.

1. Learn how to filter

The first step towards dealing with negative people is to learn how to filter. Not all criticisms are wrong, and sometimes you have to take in the negativity as a step towards something more fruitful.

Especially when building an organization, you must deal with negativity a lot. Sometimes you need to listen to what others are saying. Retain the essential part, put it to use, and forget about the rest. Think of them as suggestions and work accordingly.

2. Viewing life differently

When you hear something wrong about you or your organization, it is necessary to keep that in mind. You must remember that not everyone sees life on the same plane, and everyone has logic behind their ideology.

When someone criticizes you, it doesn’t mean they are jealous of you. You can see the world as a gray zone, but for some people, there’s just black and white and nothing in between. To deal with negativity, you will have to stop taking everything personally. Remember not to let someone’s opinion become your reality.

3. Believe in yourself

As so many before me have said, believing in yourself is the ultimate key. When you trust your process and are confident, nothing can touch you. Negative people and whatever they say will then seem like some distant noise. Ignore them like you ignore cacophony in traffic signals.

Some achieve success very quickly, but some have to work extremely hard. No matter which group you belong to, you have to have courage. If you are confident in your skin, no negativity from others can harm you. It is not easy to deal with negativity, it takes a toll on your mental health, but you have to be strong and confident and get through it.

Negative people often cloud your mind with dubiousness and hamper your creativity and productivity. So if all else fails, cut them off your life. Never deal with toxicity, and be rational. Seek professional help if that’s what you need to deal with the negativity around you.
