5 Ways Your Business Can Persist Through Tough Times
Hundreds of entrepreneurs struggle to set up their businesses in a rapidly changing world. So it can be challenging to gain solid ground under you. And even if you get your business up and running, that’s just half of the battle won. You have to build your reputation and make your way to clients. Most importantly, you need a business model that earns you a profit.
Recently, on my podcast, Figuring Out, I was talking to Prashant Pitti, co-founder of EaseMyTrip. He shared an incident from his initial business days when he faced a fraudulent customer and suffered a considerable loss. It is just one of the many hardships you’ve to face when the going gets tough. So, today I will talk about 5 ways that can help your business persist through tough times.
1. Don’t just give up
The organization you have started building is your dream. Planning took you years, and you worked hard to execute it. Just facing hardships doesn’t mean you give up on it. Take a pause. Reflect on how far you have come. And then start working with more dedication. Hard work and believing in yourself are the two most important things to persist through tough times.
2. Find your comfort zone
Someone must be there among your family or friends you can fall back on. Even if just two people support you, get going with that. Ask for financial support from your family. Eventually, you will find a door that will open new opportunities. Just know it’s okay to rely on others during tough times. Think of it as a loan you will repay once your business is back in the game.
3. Keep in touch with your existing customers
Your business attracts a crowd if you are consistent with your excellent work. And eventually, word-of-mouth will help you succeed. In any business, a customer is the ultimate asset. Hold onto your loyal customer base. Keep in touch with them, and send them greetings at festivals. Offer them discounts, and you will get through the tough time eventually.
4. Redefine your to-do list
Find out where you went wrong. To get through the hardships, you must discover the red flags. Since business has slowed down, you now have some time on your hand. Work out the problems, and improve your service. Survey the market and locate what is trending. Focus on the future and all upcoming opportunities you will land once your business shapes up.
5. Boost the morale of employees
An organization is nothing without its employees. Good employee morale is crucial for your company’s success. Even if you are down, you cannot let that impact your employees.
Be optimistic when you are around them. Share positive news only. Keep their confidence to the fullest at all times. Focus on what you as a team can control. Ask them to come up with fresh ideas to pump your organization with renewed energy.
Remember that it may be difficult to go through the hardships, but you must push through with extreme willpower. Tough times don’t last but tough people do. Just like everything else, tough times are transient too. This, too, shall pass.
