For someone like me, work is everything. With my parents living far away and no family of my own yet, I have fewer responsibilities outside of work. Naturally, I spend most of my time working. But sometimes, I experience this dip in my energy where I must gather the motivation to push forward. And on some rare days, staying in bed sounds like a good option. To address these challenges, here are three energizing hacks recommended by Sandhya Devanathan, Head of Meta India that can help you maintain your vitality throughout the day.

1. Do not skip breakfast

Quite an unconventional suggestion. But one of the most important. We are all aware that it is not good to scroll your phone first thing in the morning. But it is equally important to have breakfast, not a meager amount, but quite a bunch. That is the first meal you are starting your day with, and it’s necessary. Many of us rush in the morning, often skipping breakfast due to work or other commitments. But it is not just bad for your health; it can also disrupt our day, leaving you hungry and unable to focus on your tasks, ultimately affecting productivity. Also, a reminder: coffee or a single fruit is not breakfast. It needs to be a nutritious whole food which is chewable.

2. Planning your day

Very important deal. Without a clear plan, you risk losing your pace and the motivation to tackle your tasks. You might just forget something important. Or you might have to rush to finish work at the eleventh hour. What can save you from this catastrophe? Planning your day the previous night. Include every detail, no matter how minor, such as replying to emails or staying hydrated. When you wake up, go through that first thing in the morning. Brace yourself for the day. And at the end of the day, you will feel satisfied if you have completed the list.

3. Give yourself some time

Self-love is not just a trending word. It’s a phenomenon, and for all the right reasons. You need to spend time with yourself. You need to listen to your thoughts, face the problems you have been facing, and find the solution for yourself. Your friends and family will be there to aid you, but you have to decide for yourself at the end of the day. Self-love may look different for everybody. For some, it’s skincare; for some, it’s just lying in bed listening to slow music; and for others, it might be taking themselves out for a coffee date, a solo trip. It’s about being comfortable in your company and not letting a third party come in. As you do this, you will realize you understand yourself more — you will know your preferences, you will feel more confident, and you can work better because nothing will bother you anymore.

There are other ways too, such as giving yourself breaks between work, exercising regularly, categorizing your work, and more. It is also important to remember that you need to balance. On one day, you work 22 hours, and on another, you hardly work for 3 hours — that is neither healthy nor productive. Maintaining a consistent work schedule, where you allocate roughly equal hours to work each day, is essential because consistency is one of the keys to success.
