“Hustle for life” is a common mantra we hear today. And I am not saying we should completely shun the hustle culture. It helps us reach our goals faster and makes that dream life seem like a not-so-distant reality. So, go ahead and participate in all the races you need to and give your all to reach that top place.

However, getting that best spot will require you to be in your best shape. We have already coerced our caffeine-fueled, sleep-deprived brains into supplying us with bursts of productivity way too many times. Can we do this 365 days and expect great results every time? Most likely, no.

So, we need an actual method. Something that will help us lead a balanced life without jeopardizing our physical and mental well-being in the process. We need a routine. And here are 3 such simple habits that have the power to transform your life.

1. Exercise

You heard it a million times. Here is another reminder. Start your day by exercising. Apart from helping you reach your fitness goals, it boosts the level of endorphins, dopamine, and serotonin in the body. They are excellent stress-busters. Several pieces of research show regular workouts improve self-esteem and cognitive function while reducing anxiety, depression, and negative mood. Your physical well-being has more impact on your mental well-being than you think.

If you cannot get your hour of fitness fix in the morning, embrace micro-workouts. Squeeze multiple sessions throughout the day. Two or three 10-minute workout routines can do wonders for your body and mind. And to keep that streak going, team up with colleagues or friends with similar fitness goals. They can keep you motivated.

2. Keep a journal

Having a bad day? Having a busy day? Having an exciting day?

Journaling can be an excellent habit for every day. Whether you want to begin your day by planning ahead or need to untangle the thoughts you gathered throughout the day — a notebook can be your rational and compassionate friend.

Use a journaling method that you find best. You can quickly plan the upcoming day or week by using bullet points. Dream journaling is popular among people who are intrigued by their dreams and want to keep track of them. Jotting down your thoughts can be useful if you want to gain insights into your innermost emotions or want to monitor them. At the same time, gratitude journaling is excellent for focusing on the good things in life.

3. Meditate

In today’s fast-paced world, practicing meditation can benefit your daily life. It can be the perfect tool to conquer the chaos that resides within us. You need to dedicate a few minutes each day to meditating to reduce stress, enhance focus, and improve mental well-being.

Start by finding a quiet, comfortable space, sit relaxed, and focus on your breath. You can begin with shorter durations. Meditating for 2–5 minutes is always better than not meditating. It’s not a competition, so don’t worry about constant progress. Let your body and mind decide the right pace for you. As it becomes a habit, people usually feel relaxed, and their thoughts become more organized.

Routines bring structure and organization to life, and that can help you deal with changes, form healthy habits, and manage stress. While it is essential to prioritize what’s important and allocate time to that, do not forget to schedule time for fun activities, leisure, and breaks. Be flexible and adaptable; following a routine should not be another thing to stress over.
