3 Must-Read for Entrepreneurs
Whether you are a seasoned business owner or just starting out, every entrepreneur will face obstacles along the way. Well-written and experience-backed business books are incredible resources one can turn to for advice and guidance. While talking to Ayush Jaiswal, the co-founder and CEO of Pesto Tech, I asked him what inspired him to take on the entrepreneurial journey. He mentioned the names of the most influential business books from the entrepreneurs and experts who have actually walked the walk.
There are a number of books that can help you in overcoming many of these challenges. In addition, reading success stories from entrepreneurs may be one of the most effective ways to learn and overcome hurdles.
Sharing some of the book recommendations that are a must-read for all entrepreneurs:
1. THE LEAN STARTUP
By Eric Reis
As opposed to an effective business plan, the Lean Startup emphasizes creating a vision and adapting rapidly. The author offers entrepreneurs a scientific method of getting their startup projects up and running with his book.
You’ll find practical business ideas that will help you develop your own business. The book will help you to avoid unnecessary risks and get your startup started in the most efficient manner. As part of the entrepreneurial process, Eric Ries also emphasizes the importance of creating a vision.
2. PURPLE COW
By Seth Godin
Purple Cow presents excellent examples of how to create original and creative advertisements with the use of innovative concepts. The author cites examples like Starbucks, Apple, Dyson and many and charts out their unique marketing strategies as case studies. It argues that old-fashioned advertising is passé and suggests that the era is, in fact, over.
The book is a bestselling book that will be of interest to anyone who has an interest in creative advertising. Basically, the author, Seth Godin, explains how to come up with advertising that will make your business stand out among the competition.
I think it would be a great idea to use it when creating your company’s brand identity and promoting your products.
3. BLUE OCEAN STRATEGY
By Renée Mauborgne and W. Chan Kim
Essentially, the Blue Ocean Strategy is a systematic approach to making the competition irrelevant from a corporate perspective.
The book advocates that consumers should not be forced to choose between value and affordability. By defining what consumers value in today’s market and then rethinking how they can deliver that value, a company can both differentiate itself and provide low-cost solutions.
It outlines principles and tools that any company can use to create its own blue ocean and capture its own share of the market. It is a groundbreaking book that upends traditional thinking about strategy. It advises businesses on a bold new path to take in order to succeed and charting a brand new approach to winning the future.
These books provide everything you need to know to build a successful business, including tips on building the right mindset, leadership skills, and avoiding common mistakes that companies make.
