For most social media content creators, the biggest challenge is to remain relevant and consistent in our job. Social media is fast-paced, and if you do not regularly provide your audience with relatable content, you will lose your following, something that no one wants.

While talking to Ranveer Allahabadia, aka Beer Biceps, we discussed this issue of consistency often faced by content creators. We talked about the importance of being consistent and how learning skills like dance and martial arts help grow self-discipline which gradually helps remain constant in all aspects of your life.

Here is an excerpt-

Often self-discipline and consistency are confused with a robotic effort in doing things, but these qualities help you grow. As a content creator, here’s how you can develop self-discipline and be consistent.

1. HAVE ONE GOAL

Remaining consistent takes up a lot of effort, especially if you have just started. In order to make your experience with content creation less tiresome, try to focus on one goal. Pick that one issue- are you creating relevant content? Have you figured out your target audience? Are you delivering what is expected of you? And many such questions that might bother you. Choose one goal, leave the rest for later and start working around it.

2. USE YOUR SKILLS

If you have had any training in martial arts, dance, music, or any other such hobby that requires self-discipline and constant training, you know what I am talking about. These skills need you to stay motivated despite failed attempts. They help you create a habit, a routine that you cannot and should not defy. And thus, you become self-disciplined, which in turn keeps you consistent. Use the power of your skills in content creation. This one step is definitely going to boost your productivity.

3. DON’T LET FAILURE OVERPOWER

Not able to deliver content? It is completely OKAY. Do not waste time thinking about how you could have avoided a mistake. Do not let fear of failure come in between your passion. Focus on improving, be your content or regularity.

Being consistent means directing yourself to your goals. It makes you accountable, establishes your reputation, and, most importantly, keeps you relevant. Consistency in content delivery keeps your audience engaged. The famous saying ‘Slow and Steady Wins the Race’ is true for content creation. You cannot expect to be on top right after you start. There is a lot of effort to establish yourself as a brand and as someone who people look up to.

Do not wait for your content to go viral; that is a shortcut that hardly works in the long run. Instead, be regular and relevant so that the audience looks forward to your content.

To all the content creators out there, get going. Plan your strategies, get into a routine and build your influence.

Good Luck!
